ARTIST F. J. FEATHAM WINS 1st PRIZE IN ROME ART EXHIBITION
The Premio Capitolium (Capitolium Award) is the largest annual exhibition of art held in Rome, under the auspices of the Mayor of Rome and the Region of Lazio. It presents the work of a huge number of contemporary artists from Europe and beyond, exhibiting works of great diversity regarding subject matter and technique. In Premio Capitolium 2022 (14th - 25th May) a total of 53 artists participated, 36 from Italy and 17 from other countries.
This year, Frederick John Featham was invited by the President of the organising committee, acclaimed art curator Dr Angela Chiassai, to participate with two of his oil paintings. Mr Featham won 1st prize for his painting “Blue Full Moon,” which is a night painting of a subject which has been a constant source of inspiration for the artist - the Fortress of Rethymno.
The artist’s wife, Asimenia Featham, accepted the prestigious award on his behalf, at the awards ceremony in Rome, on Wednesday 25 May. A personal message of thanks from Mr Featham was read out to the audience by Italian Princess Ginevra Giovanelli.
